About Ingrid
Ingrid Hanson-Popp is currently principal pianist with The Wisconsin Philharmonic orchestra. She directs a private piano studio which serves all ages and abilities, and she has developed an apprentice program for students interested in music careers. She also teaches piano at Elmbrook Fine Arts Center. When her schedule allows, Ingrid performs with the Concord Chamber Orchestra. Ingrid is a member of American College of Musicians. Ms. Hanson-Popp takes every opportunity possible to perform as collaborative pianist, whether with choirs, small ensembles or vocalists. She received her Master’s degree in piano performance from Roosevelt University, studying with Ludmila Lazar, and her Bachelor’s degree in piano performance at Northern Illinois University, studying with Donald Walker, the Artist-in-Residence.
In 2010 Ingrid completed two recording projects: Debut, with her trio, In One A Chord, and Around the World on 88 Keys, her first solo work. For more information on either recording, see the Products Page at DroppedPencil.com.
"So what is Dropped Pencil?"
You may well ask that question.
When my husband was growing up, he used to draw pictures in church using a regular pew pencil, complete with those occasional pencil-usage accidents that served to break particularly silent moments in the service.
Now a days, whenever we hear the sound of a pencil hitting the floor, we can't help but smile at each other, thinking back to those early creative moments. When it came time to launch our creative media company, Dropped Pencil seemed the obvious choice!"
